15 Freeway On-Ramp Closure Ends Aug. 6 As 'Smart Freeway' Project Continues In Temecula
The $33 Million project is intended to help relieve severe congestion on the 15 Freeway in Murrieta and Temecula.
TEMECULA, CA — Nightly closures of the Winchester Road direct on-ramp at the northbound 15 Freeway in Temecula are expected to end Aug. 6 as work continues on the Smart Freeway Project, according to Caltrans.
The on-ramp has been shut down from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. since Aug. 3 as crews perform work on the advance-warning signs, which are part of the I-15 Smart Freeway Project. The work being performed at the Winchester Road on-ramp to the 15 Freeway is expected to culminate after Aug. 5.

The $33 Million project is intended to help relieve severe congestion on the 15 Freeway in Murrieta and Temecula.
The project includes an eight-mile stretch of highway equipped with sensors and intelligent transportation system features that monitor real-time traffic conditions, according to the Riverside County Transportation Commission.

Caltrans advised motorists to take Winchester Road to southbound Ynez Road to Rancho California Road to enter the northbound I-15.
