2 Drivers Arrested, 7 Cited, During Temecula DUI Checkpoint

TEMECULA, CA — A recent DUI checkpoint in Temecula conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department led to the arrests of two people, while seven motorists were cited for driving without a valid license.
The checkpoint was held from 7 p.m. Jan. 23 to 1 a.m. Jan. 24 at Rancho California and Butterfield Stage roads.
A total of 417 vehicles were stopped during the checkpoint, according to the sheriff's department. One driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, while another driver was arrested on two outstanding criminal warrants, the agency reported.

The seven citations were issued to motorists driving without a license or with a suspended/revoked license.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes, according to the sheriff's department.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
