Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing In Winchester

WINCHESTER, CA — A single-engine airplane made an emergency landing in a field near the unincorporated community of Winchester Saturday, but no one was injured.

The pilot managed to safely touch down at about 9 a.m. near Elliot and Keller roads, about three miles northeast of the French Valley Airport, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The pilot was the only person onboard, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor.

The reason for the emergency landing was unknown but there was no damage to the plane, he said.
