TEMECULA, CA — A Temecula home was burglarized Sunday night with the resident still inside, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Southwest Sheriff's Station told Patch.
Shortly before 9 p.m., deputies from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station responded to the 33800 block of Channel Street on reports of a burglary in progress.
The home was in the area west of Butterfield Stage Road and south of Nighthawk Pass in Morgan Hill.
"Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim nearby, who stated they fled from their residence after they discovered an unknown subject inside," Sgt. Robert Martinez told Patch.
Deputies searched the residence for the suspect, but discovered the person had already fled the scene.
"The Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and Sheriff’s K-9 Team also assisted in the search; however, they were unable to locate the suspect," Martinez said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. It was not immediately clear if the homeowner was injured or suffered a medical condition.
The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
