TEMECULA, CA — A ruptured gas line in a Temecula neighborhood near Pala Community Park on Wednesday prompted the evacuation of an apartment complex and a partial street closure for public safety.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 31100 block of Strawberry Tree Lane, near Bellflower Lane, adjacent to Temecula Creek, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and confirmed an outdoor leak, reportedly caused by construction workers digging into a gas main and splitting it.
Sheriff's deputies were summoned to initiate evacuations of the building inside the Temecula Lane apartments to which the line was connected. It was unclear how many occupants were impacted.
No injuries were reported.
A segment of Strawberry Lane was closed to traffic during the incident.
SoCal Gas Co. technicians reached the location at 2 p.m. and started repairs on the line. They were expected to be completed by 4 p.m.
