Brush Fire Burns In Mountains Between Temecula, Palm Desert

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A brush fire burned Monday in the mountains between Temecula and Palm Desert.

The blaze, dubbed the Sky Fire, was reported at 1:37 p.m. in the 67600 block of Skyview Drive in Ribbonwood, an unincorporated community off state Route 74 (Pines to Palms Highway).

The blaze was initially reported at 4 acres and was burning with a moderate rate of spread in light, flashy fuels, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Crews made fast work on the fire, with the forward rate of spread stopped at 2:22 p.m., though personnel were expected to remain at the site into Monday evening.

"Crews will be committed for approximately 4 hours, strengthening containment lines and performing mop-up and fire suppression operations," according to the fire department.

No injuries were reported.
