S.O.A.R. Summer Camp Program Launches For Temecula Children With Developmental Disabilities

TEMECULA, CA — Temecula is launching a new summer camp in 2026 for children with developmental disabilities as part of an expansion of the city’s inclusive recreation programs.

The S.O.A.R. Summer Activity Camp is designed for youth ages 6 to 11 and will be held at Margarita Recreation Center, 29119 Margarita Road. The camp will run Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon, with weekly themes focused on enrichment, education, social interaction and recreation, city officials said. Registration is required, according to the city.

Families may register online at TemeculaCA.gov/Register for the following sessions:

Session 1, Rainforest Adventure, will run June 22-25 under activity No. 8030.201.

Session 2, Land That I Love, America 250, will run June 29-July 2 under activity No. 8030.202.

Session 3, Space Explorers, will run July 6-9 under activity No. 8030.203.

Session 4, Circus Spectacular, will run July 13-16. The city’s release lists the same activity number as Session 3.

The new camp is part of Temecula’s broader effort to provide recreation opportunities for residents with developmental disabilities and special needs, according to the city.

Other programs at the city:

The S.K.I.P. Program, short for Supporting Kids, Involving Parents, are for children ages 0 to 12 with special needs. The monthly “parent and me” program is held at Margarita Recreation Center and includes sensory enrichment, recreational play, social skill development and parent support.

For adults ages 18 and older, Temecula offers the High Hopes Program, which provides monthly social and recreational activities at Margarita Recreation Center.

The program is intended to help participants build friendships, strengthen independence and take part in group activities in a supportive setting, according to the city.
