DE LUZ, CA — Imagine slathering a spoonful of creamy macadamia nuts and raw wildflower honey across a fresh slice of sourdough. For years, this was a family secret, the simplest pleasure of owner Kurt Merrill and his Gold Crown Farms. Now, they are making it available for purchase.
Gold Crown Farms is responsible for Old Town Temecula's Christmas Tree lot in the winter, but the De Luz location, filled with nut trees, beehives and other offerings, has made this one of Temecula's favorite year-round working farms.
The new Honeyed Macadamias are a handcrafted combination of premium California-grown macadamia nuts and raw, unfiltered Southern California wildflower honey, Merrill shared with Patch.
The result is a simple yet indulgent treat that showcases two of the farm’s signature products in a single jar. Try it over brie, with pancakes, or just by the spoonful, he recommends.
“This is something we’ve enjoyed on the farm for years,”
Merrill said. “Sometimes we’d drizzle it over yogurt, ice cream, pancakes, or toast. Other times we’d simply grab a spoon and enjoy it straight from the jar. Eventually we realized this was too good not to share.”
You might think Hawaii when it comes to Macadamia nuts, but they grow plentifully at Gold Crown Farms.
Merrill says the rich, buttery flavor of fresh macadamias pairs naturally with the floral sweetness of raw wildflower honey, creating a versatile gourmet topping that is equally at home on breakfast dishes, charcuterie boards, desserts, baked brie, or enjoyed simply by the spoonful.
Like every product from Gold Crown Farms, Honeyed Macadamias reflects the family’s commitment to
producing exceptional food while stewarding the land, according to Merrill.
The farm is located in the rolling hills west of Temecula, and is a diversified family farm where historic macadamia cultivars, honeybees, Christmas trees, native oaks, wildlife habitat, and regenerative farming practices all work together to create a
healthy and resilient landscape.
“We’re not interested in producing food that’s merely different,” Merrill said. “We want to produce food
that tells the story of where it came from and invites people to become part of that story.”
Plus, they want to be part of every holiday. Stay tuned for more, as Merrill plans on handing out some delicious 4th of July cookies as Uncle Sam this Thursday in Old Town Temecula as part of its 4th of July celebration.
