TEMECULA, CA — A local nonprofit is set to showcase how the arts can build workforce skills and confidence for individuals of all abilities during a special fundraising event next month.
JDS Creative Academy will host its inaugural Arts Across the Academy fundraiser on Aug. 21 at the JDS Studio in Temecula, 28069 Diaz Road.
The one-night event will feature live performances, creative presentations, and multimedia showcases from participants in the nonprofit’s Title 17 Job Training Program, as well as students from its visual, performing, and digital arts programs.
Organizers say the event is inspired by the spirit of inclusion celebrated in programs like "Laughs on the Spectrum." It aims to bring together community leaders, business professionals, and families to highlight the impact of creative education.
"At JDS Creative Academy, we believe the arts are more than creative expression; they are a pathway to confidence, communication, workforce readiness, and success," Diane Strand, co-founder and executive director of JDS Creative Academy, said in a statement. "This event gives our community the opportunity to celebrate those accomplishments and invest in the next generation of creative leaders."
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit scholarships, arts education, workforce development training, production equipment, and career pathway opportunities for both youth and adults.
"When you invest in the arts, you invest in people," Strand said. "And when you invest in people, you invest in the future."
