Crews Make Progress On Brush Fire Burning East Of Temecula

SAGE, CA — Firefighters were continuing to work Tuesday to contain an 18-acre brush fire in the unincorporated area of Sage east of Murrieta Hot Springs.

The fire was reported at 5:35 p.m. Monday at Sage Road and Wilson Valley Road, about 20 miles east of Temecula, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The blaze was described as brush and grass on fire in a field with a large smoke column showing in medium fuels with a moderate rate of spread.

Surrounding agencies were asked to provide aircraft, equipment and firefighters.

Late Monday night fire officials said, "Crews are making great progress on the fire, establishing containment and laying hose around the fire perimeter," and that some air and ground resources had been released.
