The fire was reported at 5:35 p.m. Monday at Sage Road and Wilson Valley Road, about 20 miles east of Temecula, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
The blaze was described as brush and grass on fire in a field with a large smoke column showing in medium fuels with a moderate rate of spread.
Surrounding agencies were asked to provide aircraft, equipment and firefighters.
