Pauba Roadwork Underway In Temecula: Drivers Be Aware

Workers will be directing traffic for the Pauba Road resurfacing through at least the end of August. The road will remain open during work.

TEMECULA, CA — A 1.4-mile stretch of Pauba Road from Ynez to Margarita roads is under active construction. This project is slated to improve pavement conditions so that the transportation needs of the public, business industry, and government can be met

The project area includes several neighborhood entrances, as well as the Ronald H. Roberts Public Library, a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire station, and entrances to churches and businesses.

"Workers are rehabilitating the centerline, totaling approximately 440,000 square feet of pavement," according to city documents.

The rehab project begins with the grinding of three inches of the existing pavement, followed by placement of three inches of new asphalt concrete materials, according to the project plans.

If you drive down Pauba after dark this week, be aware that existing pavement delineation was removed during the grinding process.

"Pauba Road is underway, receiving a much-needed resurfacing of the roadway, and it's on track to be completed by the end of August," Councilmember Brenden Kalfus said over an Instagram reel. "Here in Temecula, we invest millions of dollars every year in maintaining our streets because good infrastructure doesn't happen by accident but through consistent investment."

After much discussion in the city council, it was decided that Pauba Road would maintain all four lanes of traffic and ultimately have improved traffic detection and utility adjustments, according to Kalfus.

There will also be removal of existing pavement delineation, restriping, and replacement of existing curb ramps with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps.

The construction contract was awarded at the June 9, 2026 City Council Meeting, and Kalfus predicted construction would be completed by the end of August. This was months sooner than the originally suggested October deadline.
