TEMECULA, CA — The city of Temecula announced on Wednesday plans to install 75 solar-powered lights on its popular Great Oaks trail as summer comes closer to ending and daylight fades quicker.

The lights will be installed along the path from Deer Hollow Way to Loma Linda Road.

The city said the fully-paved trail is separated from street traffic "and is a popular route for Great Oak HS students and those traveling to and from Pat Birdsall Sports Park."

Last year, the city installed 27 solar-powered lights along Murrieta Creek on the Old Town Trail between Moreno Road and First Street.

Construction on the new solar-powered lights at Great Oaks trail is expected to begin next month.

The city has not announced when the project will be complete.
