Warming Trend Through Midweek To Follow Rain

RIVERSIDE, CA — Forecasters predicted a warming trend early this week, followed by another slight chance of showers and thunderstorms midweek.

Sunday precipitation amounted to about one-third of an inch in the downtown Riverside area, and less than a tenth of an inch in the Coachella Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

Labor day will kick off the week with temperatures of 92 in the downtown Riverside area and Temecula, 93 in Hemet, 103 in Coachella and 101 in Palm Springs.

"High temperatures Monday are expected to be 5 to 10 degrees warmer than today, with less cloud coverage expected. High temperatures will continue to increase into Wednesday for areas west of the mountains and Thursday for the deserts," the NWS announced Sunday.

The warmest day next week was expected to be Wednesday, with a high of 100 in the downtown Riverside area, 98 in Temecula, 101 in Hemet, 110 in Coachella and 106 in Palm Springs.

A slight 20% chance of precipitation and thunderstorms was expected in Palm Springs and Hemet on Wednesday, according to the NWS.

Temperatures were expected to cool down by a few degrees again by the end of the week.

The downtown Riverside area and Hemet were expected to reach the low 90s Saturday while Temecula was expected to reach the mid-80s, and Coachella and Palm Springs were expected to reach the low 100s.
