Temecula Woman Suspected Of Fraud, Identity Theft, Held On $300K Bail

TEMECULA, CA — A Temecula woman and a San Marcos man were arrested one week ago on suspicion of large-scale fraud, forgery and burglary, officials say.

Katie Rhew, 44, was being held at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee on multiple charges, including identity theft, possession of personal identifying information of more than 10 victims, forgery, burglary, possession of methamphetamine, committing a felony while on bail and criminal conspiracy.

She was taken into custody at her Temecula home, where Sheriff's Investigators recovered "hundreds of items associated with the production of forged documents, stolen credit cards and passports, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Nicholas Aranitis. "Investigators also found fraudulently obtained property linked to numerous victims across San Diego, Riverside and Orange Counties, as well as from the state of Arizona."

Also arrested was Michael Sundstrom, 45, of San Marcos, who was being held on charges of identity theft, mail theft, possession of stolen property, and criminal conspiracy.

She was being held on $300,000 bail, awaiting arraignment.
