Local chefs will have a chance to put their burger-making skills to the test when the fifth annual Battle of the Burgers competition returns to Pechanga Resort Casino on Saturday, Oct. 10.
The competition, which will be held from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., gives a panel of judges and local burger lovers a chance to vote for the best burger in Temecula Valley.
The event not only gives local restaurants an opportunity to showcase their best burger, it also provides hands-on training and coaching for high school culinary arts students.
The top three winners will be chosen by a group of five judges, including Temecula Mayor Jessica Alexander.
The competition is a joint effort between Visit Temecula Valley, Pechanga Resort Casino, and the Temecula Valley Unified School District.
All funds raised during the event will benefit the Temecula Valley Unified School District Career Technical Education Culinary Arts Program.
Last year, more than $12,000 for the district's Career Technical Education program.
"Temecula Valley Unified School District is grateful for the partnership with Visit Temecula Valley and Pechanga Resort Casino that provides such a valuable experience for our students," Jenni Huter, a work-based learning facilitator at Temecula Valley Unified School District, said in a press release. "This exciting collaboration not only showcases the incredible talent of our students but also highlights the power of community partnerships in shaping their future career paths."
