Average Riverside County Gas Price Rises For 38th Consecutive Day

RIVERSIDE, CA — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose Friday to its highest amount since Oct. 11, 2022, increasing 5 cents to $6.224, extending its streak of increases to 38 consecutive days.

The average price has risen 70.4 cents over the past 38 days, including 2.8 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 16.9 cents more than one week ago, 65.3 cents higher than one month ago and $1.624 greater than one year ago.

The average price has increased $1.673 since the start of the joint U.S./Israel war on Iran on Feb. 28, which sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.

"Data from the Energy Information Administration and Oil Price Information Service shows that West Coast gasoline inventories are below the five-year average for this time of year, which increases the need for imported fuel as worldwide supply disruptions continue," Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California's senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement released Thursday.

"Until those issues are resolved, Southern Californians will continue to pay higher prices at the pump."

The national average price rose nine-tenths of a cent to $4.491 one day after increasing eight-tenths of a cent. It is 2.3 cents more than one week ago, 39.5 cents higher than one month ago and $1.334 greater than one year ago.

The national average price has increased $1.509 since the attack on Iran.

The Riverside average price rose more than 2 cents a day over the past week while the national average price rose by about one-third of a cent.

The national average price is at its highest amount this late in the calendar year, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
