ANZA, CA — Homicide investigators are asking for the public's help to identify a woman whose remains were discovered late last week in an unincorporated area of Riverside County, authorities said Tuesday.
Deputies from the Hemet Sheriff's Station were dispatched around 2:54 p.m. on Oct. 23 to the area of Bautista Canyon Road and Willis Road in Anza after receiving a report of human remains, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
Upon arrival, deputies located the remains of an unidentified adult female wearing a red shirt and purple pants.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the discovery, the sheriff's Central Homicide Unit responded and took over the investigation.
Detectives are asking the community to report any adult women who have gone missing or have not been heard from since Oct. 9, with a particular focus on the Hemet and Anza areas.
The case remains active and ongoing, and officials said no additional details would be released immediately.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Central Homicide Unit Investigator Dan DiMaggio at 951-955-2777.
