RIVERSIDE, CA — An additional 131 vote centers will open Saturday throughout Riverside County for the Nov. 3 general election, bringing the countywide total to 152, election officials said Friday.
Twenty-one vote centers opened last weekend for Riverside County residents who want to cast ballots in person rather than by mail.
The locations, listed at voteinfo.net, offer Dominion touchscreen electronic voting machines that registered voters can use instead of filling out paper vote-by-mail ballots.
Voters may also "opt to mark a paper ballot and then cast it into a ballot box," bypassing the machines altogether, according to the registrar's office.
More than 100 secure ballot drop boxes have been available throughout Riverside County since the beginning of October, allowing voters to return completed ballots without mailing them.
Ballots must be received or postmarked by Tuesday, Nov. 3, to be counted, according to the California Secretary of State's Office.
Riverside County has approximately 1.43 million registered voters. Voter turnout in the June primary election was 38%, according to the registrar's office.
