1. 15 Freeway Auxiliary Lanes Project In Temecula Nears Completion (patch.com) — New auxiliary lanes on I-15 through Temecula are now open, with only final sign and electrical work remaining as Caltrans wraps up the $33.8 million project. Drivers between Rancho California Road, Winchester Road, and Temecula Parkway should still expect some nighttime lane and ramp work this fall, but can already benefit from smoother traffic flow between key interchanges.
2. Suspect arrested after vehicle pursuit and search in Temecula (myvalleynews.com) — A vehicle pursuit through Temecula ended Thursday morning near Via Rio, where deputies arrested a 41-year-old Riverside man after he fled both by car and on foot. The chase temporarily closed Via Rio and Avenida de Misiones as helicopters, K-9s, and tactical teams searched near local schools and churches before safely taking the suspect into custody on warrants and evasion allegations.
3. U.S. Border Patrol intercepts shipment of cocaine and methamphetamine on Interstate 15 (cbp.gov) — Border Patrol agents stopped a vehicle on northbound I-15 in Temecula and seized more than 34 pounds of cocaine and methamphetamine hidden in a compartment, then arrested the driver and impounded the car. Officials say the bust is part of a broader effort to keep smugglers from using Southern California highways, and they urge residents to report suspicious activity.
4. Dozens of alleged gang members, associates targeted in two-year probe of Poway gang activity (timesofsandiego.com) — Federal and local authorities served search warrants in Temecula as part of a two-year investigation into a Poway-based gang with alleged Mexican Mafia ties, resulting in more than 40 indictments and 35 arrests across Southern California. Investigators seized drugs, guns, and cash while continuing to search for several suspects still at large, underscoring the regional reach of the operation.
