Temecula Resident Named VP of Operations for Roberto's Mexican Food

Roberto's Mexican Food (www.robertos.us), San Diego's “original taco shop,” has named Temecula resident George Hunter as vice president of operations and announced the launch of the company's first-ever catering division.

Hunter, a restaurant industry veteran, will be responsible for all aspects of business operations for the multi-unit operator and report directly to company owners, which are the children of original founders Roberto and Dolores Robledo.

Hunter's initial focus will be the launch and growth of Roberto's new catering division and real estate development for the company, including new locations in Temecula. “I couldn’t be more pleased to join a company so committed to taking care of their people, their guests and their vendors...it’s no wonder why they have been so successful for over 40 years in San Diego, said Hunter.

New Catering Division:

“Locals have always known that Roberto’s has great party-size and to-go platters and meals for any size gathering. Now, we are planning to turn the volume up and let San Diegans know they can get authentic, fresh Mexican food for groups from 10 to 10,000,” added Hunter. Catering enhancements include a centralized toll free 800 number to streamline ordering and a dedicated email address for questions and comments: Catering@Robertos.us. The company plans to soon offer online ordering and a downloadable Roberto's app to expedite mobile ordering.

Made fresh daily, the Roberto's menu is full of classic Mexican flavors including Carne Asada Burritos, Rolled Tacos and the surfer’s favorite, the Hash Brown Breakfast Burrito.

Before joining Roberto's and launching the company's catering division, Hunter was chief operating officer of Pat & Oscar’s Restaurants. In his role, he was responsible for companywide personnel and operational management, including all district managers, training and Human Resource functions. Hunter was instrumental with the early development, site analytics and franchise administration for this iconic San Diego brand. Hired by the original founders of Pat & Oscar's, Hunter held an equity stake in the business until it was later sold.  Prior to joining Pat & Oscar's he served in many capacities with Sears & Roebuck based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
