Angels' Andrelton Simmons To Meet Fans At Pechanga

Simmons will sign one personal item per guest and signatures are limited to the first 500 people.

From Pechanga Resort Casino: Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons, a three time Gold Glove Award winner, will be signing items for Pechanga Resort Casino guests at a special meet-and-greet on Tuesday, August 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Pechanga Summit.

Simmons will sign one personal item per guest and signatures are limited to the first 500 people. Patrons attending the event must be 18 or older or accompanied by an adult. No posed pictures will be allowed. Media are welcome to cover the meet-and-greet.

A native of the Caribbean island of Curaçao, Simmons is posting the finest offensive season of his career, with career highs in batting average (.303; ninth in the American League), on-base percentage (.361) and OPS (.786). Along with that, Simmons has established himself as the hardest batter to strike out in the game and – according to Sports Illustrated – the hardest batter to strike out in the last 80 years. In a year where players are striking out in record numbers, he has fanned only 17 times all season.

In 2017, Simmons established career highs in home runs (14), RBI (69) and stolen bases (19), all while winning his third Gold Glove as the best fielding shortstop in the American League. He was recognized for his overall game by finishing eighth in Most Valuable Player voting.

Simmons was a second-round selection by the Atlanta Braves in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft. He made his Major League debut on June 2, 2012 and was selected the National League Rookie of the Month that month. In 2013, he was named as the winner of the National League Platinum Glove Award as the best fielding player at any position in the league. He was traded to the Angels in November 2015.
