Bob's Big Boy Hits the Road

The all-American restaurant's doors are closed, and no explanation was forthcoming.

The restaurant on Jefferson Avenue closed its doors -- possibly forever.

The doors were closed since earlier this month, according to several Temecula Patch readers.

The doors were locked today, and a sign taped to the door read "Closed for remodel."

The sign was removed, the iconic Big Boy statue in front of the restaurant was taken down, and nobody answered a phone call.

"I'm guessing is belly up," wrote one Patch reader in an email. "Couldn't wait for Jefferson Avenue redevelopment."

The reader referred to a plan the cities of Temecula and Murrieta are working on to improve the areas along Jefferson from Temecula to Wildomar. To read about the plan,

Another reader reported the restaurant might be closing as early as May. "The Temecula Bob's Big Boy is soon to close and has been bouncing payroll checks for four weeks," the reader wrote in an email. "My daughter's bounced today."
