UPDATED: Police Shoot, Kill Robbery Suspect on Temecula Roadway
Sheriff's officials were on scene for several hours Tuesday evening following the deadly confrontation.

Temecula, CA — Temecula police shut down a main roadway in town Tuesday afternoon after a deadly officer involved shooting.
Temecula police tell Patch that the shooting happened after a local robbery, which was reported in the 32400 block of Temecula Parkway around 3:45 p.m.
Police responded shortly thereafter and spotted a suspect, Deputy Armando Munoz says.

"The suspect failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued, leading to a traffic collision off of Moraga and Margarita roads," he says. "And at that time an officer involved shooting did occur."
The person, an unidentified man, died at the scene, he says.

As of 7 p.m., Moraga Road remained shut down to area traffic. There was no estimate as to when it would reopen, and Munoz tells Patch it will likely be shut down for several hours. Multiple witnesses report traffic jams were backed up onto Margarita as a result of the closure.
Photos and video from the scene show a red SUV involved in an apparent police pursuit from earlier in the afternoon, as the vehicle weaved through local roadways for about four miles from the scene of the alleged robbery.
Munoz says additional information will be released as the investigation permits.
