Brush Fire Breaks Out West Of Temecula City Limits, Near De Luz

Air power was requested to help battle the blaze.

TEMECULA, CA — A vegetation fire broke out Tuesday evening in Riverside County, just outside the western edge of Temecula city limits.

The blaze dubbed the Carancho Fire was reported at 6 p.m. in the area of Carancho Road and Rancho Fallbrook Road near De Luz. The location abuts the San Diego County line.

As of 7:30 p.m., the blaze had consumed 20 acres with zero containment. The acreage was remapped to 15 acres, and that figure was holding as of 8:35 p.m.

In addition to grounds crews, two aircraft were requested to help battle the fire, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department Captain John Clingingsmith.

The North County Fire Protection District was assisting with the firefight.

There were no immediate reports of evacuations or injuries, and no word on what started the blaze.
