Centenarian Gets Her Birthday Wish: Photo Of The Day

TEMECULA, CA —Elva Phillips marked her 100th birthday in grand style last week, spending a day exactly as she wished — with her granddaughter and great-granddaughter at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula.

Elva’s granddaughter, Robyn, called ahead to Pechanga management asking if her grandma’s favorite slot machine would be available.

And with that heads-up, casino staff created a "VIP section" for Elva, clearing and decorating the area around her chosen $1 Double Diamond Strike and presenting her with a "goodie bag."

During the recent months of quarantine, Elva, an Orange County resident, frequently mentioned how she wanted to visit Pechanga. So when she learned of the planned outing for her milestone birthday, she lit up, her family said.
