CHP Motorcycle Officer Hospitalized In Temecula Morning Crash

The two-car crash occurred on Jefferson, near the Temecula McDonald's, witnesses say.

TEMECULA, CA — A Temecula, California Highway Patrol Officer and another vehicle collided Friday morning, in an injury crash that sent the officer to the hospital, officials say.

Just after 9:30 a.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department arrived at the scene on Jefferson Avenue, north of Del Dio Road, where two vehicles collided. "Two patients were involved, one transported to by ambulance in moderate condition. The second patient left the scene against medical advice, according to the department."

"The officer from the Temecula CHP Area office was on duty riding his marked black and white BMW motorcycle, northbound on Jefferson Avenue, north of Del Rio Road" according to Officer Brian Seel. "A 20-year-old Menifee man was driving a white Nissan Sentra, southbound on Jefferson Avenue within the two-way-turn lane, north of Del Rio Road.

For reasons still under investigation, a traffic collision occurred.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol arrived on scene and, with the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, they closed Jefferson Avenue between Del Rio Road and Calle Cortez to conduct their investigation.

The Nissan driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to Seel.

The collision is currently being investigated by the Temecula CHP Area with the assistance of the Border Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
