2 Cars Collide Near Promenade Temecula Mall, 1 Injured

Two cars collided at the intersection of Margarita Road at Overland, stalling traffic for over an hour Thursday.

TEMECULA, CA—One person was injured in a two car collision near Promenade Temecula Mall Thursday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Midday traffic at Margarita Road and Overland Drive was stalled by the crash, which disabled both a grey sedan and a black sedan and closed at least one lane of traffic to through drivers.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Margarita Road and Overland Drive regarding a traffic collision into a light pole, Sgt. Deirdre Vickers.

“Upon arrival, deputies located two vehicles with collision damage. One driver was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation,” Vickers said.

As of 1 p.m., traffic was backed up for several blocks heading northbound on Margarita Road and East on Overland Drive.

Two tow trucks were needed to remove the vehicles from the scene before traffic through the area could resume.
