DUI Checkpoint Coming To Temecula May 8: CHP

TEMECULA, CA — A DUI checkpoint will be staged at an undisclosed location in the Temecula area on May 8, authorities announced on Friday.

Motorists approaching the checkpoint will see signs advising them that a DUI checkpoint is ahead. Once diverted into
the lane, motorists will be briefly detained while an officer explains the purpose of the checkpoint and checks their driver's license, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP did not disclose what time the DUI checkpoint operation will be conducted.

"The CHP would like to remind the motoring public to always designate a sober driver. If you drink, consume a drug, or prescription medication that can cause impairment, please don’t drive," authorities said.

Drivers charged with DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Funding for the DUI checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
