Thanks to Robert “Bob” Holts, a French Valley retiree and
professional musician, the Big Band sounds of Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller, and jazz great Stan Kenton are kept alive for audiences of all ages to enjoy. For over five years, his 17-piece Robert Holts Orchestra has performed in auditoriums and community theaters, often for the sheer joy of playing and to support music programs in area schools.
On Friday, May 4, at 6 PM, the Robert Holts Orchestra will
perform a benefit concert in the Performing Arts Center at Chaparral High School. Special guest and jazz vocalist Rosalie Porter will accompany the orchestra. Members of the school’s jazz band, the CHS Jazz Cats, will sit in with
the orchestra and, under the direction of Alan Underwood, will perform.
Tickets are $20 each and are available during school hours at the CHS Bookkeeping Office or at the door the night of the performance. Band members also are selling tickets.
Festival seating (no assigned seats) means supporters should arrive early for best seating.
