A family moving to Temecula from Oregon had their entire life’s possessions stolen while they slept at a Roseville, Calif. motel Sunday, a local news station reported.

Roseville station, KCRA, reported that the family woke up from staying at the Homestead Suites to discover their 26-foot U-Haul truck had been stolen.

“I kind of have a feeling that this might have been a little planned out,” Joshua Trees told KCRA. “Like, they might have seen us driving, seen the vehicles we were in and kind of staked it out.”

The Trees family was moving from Bend, Ore. to Temecula where they bought a house. The moving truck was parked near the dumpster in the back of the motel, where there were no security cameras, according to the station.

The family have two days’ worth of clothes and a few items from a smaller trailer attached to their truck that was untouched.

The family fears that 18 year’s worth of memories are gone forever.

“Family pictures framed on the wall, things like that,” Lisa Trees told KCRA. “You can’t replace memories. You can’t replace those things.”

The family said they will continue on their trek to Southern California and are greatful they still have each other.

The stolen U-Haul has an Arizona license plate number of AD46080.

Roseville police say thieves will sometimes change the plates, but the U-Haul has easily identifiable markings that cannot be hidden. The truck has a picture of a ghost ship on one side and a moose on the other.

A friend has set up a GoFundMe account to help the family replace their belongings and the motel did not charge the family for their stay, according to KCRA.
