Fire Breaks Out At Temecula Home, Nine People Displaced: Fire Dept.

Fire officials say that the blaze broke out Monday.

TEMECULA, CA – A total of nine people were displaced from their home on Monday morning, after a fire broke out in Temecula, the Riverside County Fire Department reports. According to officials, five adults and four children were displaced.

The fire was first reported at 8:36 a.m. in the 41800 block of Shorewood Court, which is near Margarita and Winchester roads, according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

"CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters are on scene of a residential structure fire in Temecula," she reported Monday. "The fire was contained to the kitchen area."

Twenty firefighters responded to the incident from five engine companies, according to Hagemann. Though the blaze was contained to the kitchen, the damage was severe enough to require the home's occupants to find other housing, and the American Red Cross was called to assist.

The cause is under investigation.
