BEAUMONT, CA — A former administrator for the Temecula Valley Unified School District who rose to the position of superintendent for the Beaumont Unified School District appears to be on his way out.
BUSD Superintendent Terrence Davis has been placed on paid administrative leave, but details from the district about why the move was taken have not been publicly released.
"On August 11, 2020, the Beaumont Unified School District Board of Trustees took action to place Superintendent Terrence Davis on paid administrative leave. Due to employee confidentiality laws, the District cannot further comment on this matter," a district statement read.

Davis served in the TVUSD for nearly three years. In 2012, while serving as the district's director of human resources, he took a position with the BUSD. Davis took over as BUSD superintendent July 9, 2016 following the retirement of BUSD Superintendent Maureen Latham. Davis was unanimously appointed by the BUSD board. He had been serving as the district's assistant superintendent of human resources prior to the appointment.
Prior to his work in the TVUSD, Davis taught in the Alvord Unified School District.

The BUSD board appointed Dr. Ebon Brown, chief innovation officer, and Dr. Amy Nguyen-Hernandez, assistant superintendent of instructional support services, to serve as acting co-superintendents pending the selection of an interim superintendent, the BUSD said.
There was no word on how long the selection process would last nor how long Davis would continue receiving pay. Pages on the BUSD website that referenced Davis have been taken down.
"We understand the concern from our staff, students, families, and community members regarding this change," the district statement read. "Please be aware that comments and allegations posted on social media outlets are not necessarily factual nor accurate."
