TEMECULA, CA — More than 1,300 local residents hope to gather in Old Town on April 26 to take part in shattering a world record in an event organized by Visit Temecula Valley.
The group intends to beat the current world record for the longest toast relay.
The event will start at 9 a.m. in Old Town Temecula at its Main Street entrance and will last until noon, Visit Temecula Valley said. When everyone is lined up and ready, the toasting will begin.

The deadline to enter is March 31. Participants need to be over 21 and must pre-register.
The current world record for the longest toast relay is held by a group in Thailand, which toasted eating good food and was organized by Coca-Cola Thailand. About 1,300 participants took part in that record-setting event in Bangkok on Dec. 12, 2019, according to Guinness World Records.

"The idea behind the attempt was to celebrate the eating of traditional food with Coke," the group said on the Guinness World Records website. "Each participant was served an array of local cuisine and a bottle of Coke. During the relay, everyone toasted to this novel idea of celebration."
Visit Temecula Valley applied to shatter that record, passing the toast across Old Town.
Once registered, entrants will be logged into groups. A witness will be on hand to award Visit Temecula Valley with the honor of a world record should it have enough toasters.
All who enter will receive a commemorative glass and lanyard and, of course, bragging rights.
There has already been "quite a response" to the event, according to Visit Temecula Valley.
"This effort is part of Visit Temecula Valley's Live Glass Full campaign launch," the visitor's bureau reported.
Register on the Visit Temecula Valley website, and be sure to look for Patch there on April 26!
