Homicide Investigation East Of Temecula Leads To Woman's Arrest
Karina Sara Moreno Valdivia, 32, of Anza is being held on $1 million bail.

ANZA, CA — A 32-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder following a homicide investigation in the unincorporated area of Anza, east of Temecula.
Karina Sara Moreno Valdivia of Anza was taken into custody at 12:18 a.m. Tuesday after deputies responded to a call around 1:11 a.m. Monday in the 60000 block of Coyote Canyon Road in Anza about a "battery in progress," according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
When deputies got on scene they found "two females suffering from numerous injuries," according to the sheriff's department. Despite life-saving measures, one of the victims died at the scene; the other was rushed to a local hospital for surgery due to injuries. An update on her condition is not available.

The woman who died was identified by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau as 58-year-old Karen McCoy of Anza.
Moreno Valdivia was booked on suspicion of first-degree murder and attempted murder. She is being held at Larry D. Smith Correctional facility in lieu of $1 million bail and is scheduled in court Thursday, according to jail records.

There are no other suspects being sought and there are no perceived threats to the public, according to the sheriff's department.
