Homicide Investigation: Man Found Shot In Winchester

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the killing to come forward.

WINCHESTER, CA — A man who was found inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds Wednesday in Winchester died from his injuries and a homicide is underway by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies found Gustavo Hernandez, 21, of Perris wounded in the 28000 block of Whitaker St. shortly after 9:30 a.m. The deputies were dispatched to the area regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call, according to the sheriff's department.

Although deputies arrived within minutes and began emergency life-saving measures on Hernandez, he died after being transported by paramedics to a local hospital, the sheriff's department reported.
