Horses, Hollywood and a piece of Temecula History
One of Temecula's long-time thoroughbred farms has just been put on the market.
One of Temecula’s long-time thoroughbred farms has just been put on the market. The story for Ren-Mar begins in Hollywood at the old Desi-Lu Studios that Rene and Marjorie Lambert purchased and renamed, Ren-Mar Studios. Like many in Hollywood, the Lambert’s had a love for horse racing and so they came to Temecula where they purchased a prime piece of horse property. Situated in Temecula’s Valle de los Caballos, Ren-Mar
Thoroughbred Farms is a sprawling 43.25-acre property along the De Portola Wine Trail.
For many years, Ren-Mar enjoyed great success from their Temecula farm. Their California-bred gelding, Sky Jack, who raced from 1999-2003 took home the Hollywood Gold Cup in 2002. Earning in excess of a million dollars, the 1996 grey gelding was the son of Jaklin Klugman another notable Temecula horse. The daughter of Good Journey, Dancingtothestars, was a third-generation homebred mare from Ren-Mar who earned nearly $500,000 in her racing career.
As you walk the property, it’s evident that the spirit of horse racing runs deep through the veins of Ren-Mar. Enjoy tree lined drives and lush pastures where horses graze with a beautiful mountainous back-drop. The 10-stall barn is complemented by shedrow barns with large stalls and grass pastures. The main barn features a workshop and office on the first floor as well as two upstairs apartments. The property also has a modest ranch manager’s home with a private entrance.

Temecula enjoys a comfortable year-round climate and has a booming tourism industry through the growth of Temecula Wine Country. In 2014, Riverside County adopted the Wine Country Community Plan which is made up of three districts, Residential, Winery and Equestrian. Ren-Mar Thoroughbred Farm is located within the Wine Country-Equestrian District (WC-E). The Equestrian District was designed to protect and promote equestrian uses in the Temecula Valley Wine Country Policy Area.
Conveniently located to Southern California tracks and horse show grounds such as LA, Del Mar and Indio. The property is offered at $3,500,000.00 and includes two APN’s. The listing agent, Beth Good, also hosts a quarterly Hooves to Homes Tour which featured Ren-Mar Thoroughbred Farm for its latest ride. Licensed in California (CalBRE 01833600) since 2008, Beth works for the Temecula Century 21 Preferred office and handles working ranches, luxury estates and acreage properties exclusively.
