Importance of Manufacturing to Temecula Recognized

The manufacturing industry is a critical component to Temecula’s economy. In 2013, a total of 151 manufacturing companies employed over 3,570 people, with a quarterly average payroll is $46,360,866.

As October 3, 2014 marks National Manufacturing Day, the City of Temecula City Council recently recognized the Southwest California Manufacturing Council for their efforts in providing a forum of collaboration and best practices between the local manufacturing community.

The Southwest California Manufacturing Council is organized under the leadership of the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Southwest California Economic Development Corporation and is open to manufacturers in Southwest Riverside County.

In 2013, manufacturers nationwide contributed $2.08 trillion to the economy; this was 12.5 percent of GDP. According to the National Association of Manufactures, for every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, another $1.32 is added to the economy, the highest multiplier effect of any economic sector.

The average manufacturing worker in the United States earned $77,506 annually, including pay and benefits compared to the average worker in all industries earned $62,546.
