Kidnapping, Rape Charges Lodged Against MSJC Temecula Campus Employee

Devnol Anand, 35, is being held at Murrieta's Southwest Detention Center with bail set at $1 million, according to jail and court records.

TEMECULA, CA — A Mt. San Jacinto College employee serving at the Temecula campus is due in court Thursday following charges of rape by force and other serious crimes.

Devnol Anand, 35, is scheduled to appear for an 8:30 a.m. felony settlement conference at Murrieta's Southwest Justice Center.

Anand is charged with one count each of kidnapping to commit robbery/rape; rape by force/fear; assault with intent to commit mayhem, rape, sodomy, oral copulation; and unlawful bodily injury/sexual penetration by means of force — all felonies. The charges include special allegations and aggravating factors, including being in a position of trust/confidence.

Anand pleaded not guilty to all charges during a Sept. 28 arraignment.

His alleged offenses stem back to early July and the victim was an ex-girlfriend/cohabitant identified in a criminal complaint as Jane Doe.

Anand is being held at Murrieta's Southwest Detention Center with bail set at $1 million, according to jail and court records.

Anand works as a system analyst for MSJC, with his tenure starting in February 2018, according to his LinkedIn account.

"The Mt. San Jacinto Community College District is aware that an employee was recently arrested on suspicion of rape and possibly other charges," an emailed statement from the college read. "This is not an employee who interacts with students and the alleged incident did not occur on any MSJC property. We take is matter seriously and will take appropriate action, however the District cannot comment on this issue or any personnel actions."
