Local Daisy Troop Learns Importance of Recycling
They earned a merit badge and, the troop leader hopes, a lesson about the importance of recycling.
Local daisies took a tour of a Temecula recycling plant to earn their merit badge and, the troop leader hopes, a lesson on the importance of recycling.
Five members of Daisy troop 2423, all students, toured last week to get a recycling badge, called a "daisy petal." They also brought in some items from home to be recycled.
"The tour taught the troop so much, and hopefully they will learn to value and preserve our resources before they are all depleted," said troop leader, Lisa Archuleta. "This tour also helped them earn a daisy petal.”

The troop started off their tour with a mini-quiz that taught them facts about recycling and the importance of recycling. Then, they toured the warehouse, seeing all the different areas, including the e-waste area.
Temecula Recycling is one of the only local recycling centers that accepts electronic waste.

After they finished the tour of the warehouse, they moved to the outside area, where they sorted all their recyclable items. All the daisy’s were very pleased with their earnings from their recycables , and plan to use their funds towards their troop projects.
