Local writer publishes fun books

Author Marion Patton (AKA) 'Buck Immov'. Rainbow, CA. November 21, 2017, born and raised in the Colorado Rockies, has published some western stories. They are set in the high county and the characters talk and act like high country people. Natives who have read them have found them entertaining, authentic, and funny. Some stories are free. Buck Immov, the author of the books says:

I have ridden the high country and known Colorado and its people. My dad ran the Hayden Ranch, now on the National Register of Historic Places, for years.. I have listened to my grandpa's stories about bears, gunfights, stampedes and massacrees. I’ve put everything I knew about or could find out about into all the adventures I could think of. I show strong but flawed men and women dealing with deadly dangers, romantic problems, terrible decisions, and funny situations. And everything was inspired by my Colorado life.

My hero, Snakeskin McMurtry, is a gunfighter who hates killing. Makes him as sick as a dog. A man with his talents is expected to go on posses and he’s afraid he might have to shoot somebody. To get out of those posses, he buys a big ranch. To get the cash, he jailed outlaws, helped them escape, split the reward, and did it again. That leads to trouble. As soon as he gets his ranch, he hears that the man who owns the next ranch has started hiring killers for a range war and the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang is coming to join that rancher (Old grudge). Does he get out of it? I dunno. He might. He is tough, smart and, resourceful. And he has his girl. She has a strong character and heroic courage. She has saved him before. I have had been a lot of fun writing this story. I hope and expect you’ll have fun reading it.

The author, Buck Immov (AKA Tode Patton), lived his first 20 years in the Colorado Rockies. He went to college and graduate school in Oregon and did research fellowships in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Virginia. He spent the next 25 years as a diver, a marine biologist, in California, Alaska, Hawaii, and Guam. Subsequently, he taught biology courses at several California colleges. He has published 25 articles on science. He lives in Rainbow, California.
