Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake In Baja California Rocks Southland

BAJA CALIFORNIA — A magnitude 5.5 earthquake Friday night centered just south of the U.S.-Mexico border was felt in Southern California.
The temblor struck at 7:52 p.m. southeast of Estacion Coahuila, B.C., Mexico, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS revised the earthquake's size and epicenter. At last report, the quake measured magnitude 5.5 and was centered approximately 43 miles southeast of Estacion Coahuila.

Estacion Coahuila, which is sparsely populated, is located south of the capital city of Mexicali.
Mexicali's population is about 689,775.

The extent of damage or possible injuries from the quake were not immediately known.
People in San Diego and Imperial counties reported feeling the quake, but there were also reports from as far away as Orange and Riverside counties.
