Meet an “Amazing” Who Bounds High Into The Sky
George Hery celebrated his 80th birthday with an astonishing display on the trampoline.

George Hery showed he’s still got it, as he celebrated his 80th birthday with an astonishing display on the trampoline. George started what was to become his path to the 1964 World Professional Trampoline Championship at – of all places – his local YMCA, where he trained twice a week while studying engineering. But George is not only a superb athlete, he is also an inventor: he invented the double mini-trampoline and the coil springboard for the vault, with which he set a record doing 120 backflips in a row. No, that’s not a typo – 120 backflips! And just for fun, in 1970 he did a flip on a mini-trampoline on top of a pyramid in Egypt. Last year, George was given a Lifetime Achievement award by USA Gymnastics at the Olympic Trials in San Jose, CA. Today he teaches at the Fallbrook Gymnastics Club, where his greatest joy is in teaching children. Now that’s passing it along in style!
