TEMECULA, CA — Traffic into Temecula was at a crawl Wednesday morning after a truck hit a motorcyclist, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened along the southbound side of the freeway, near Temecula Parkway, at 6:42 a.m., according to preliminary CHP reports.

Cal Fire/ Riverside County Firefighters arrived on the scene, but as of 7:30 a.m., there was no word on the motorcyclist’s condition.
Witnesses told the CHP that a black Chevy Tahoe "made an unsafe lane change" and collided with a motorcyclist who went down in the roadway.

A silver Scion then struck the downed rider, reports indicated. The driver of that car stopped in the center divider and waited for officials.

As of 8 a.m, southbound traffic remained slow from the I-215 crush through the Temecula Parkway/79 south exit. Commuters clogged surface streets as they sought to avoid the I-15 traffic, creating heavy congestion in that area during the incident.
