My French Passport Textbook Series Brings French Language to Life through Immersion in Everyday Culture

A Temecula publishing company, M'aidez, just released its first educational book.

TEMECULA, CA / 11/29/13 — A new series of French-language learning manuals invites students at any level to study the French language and culture in a fun, immersive way — through the eyes of a native speaker! The My French Passport series (M’aidez Publishing —www.maidezpublishing.com) by educator, author, and journalist Stéphanie Berton takes students on a series of adventures with their new French pen pal, Marie, who discusses through her letters a wide variety of French cultural practices using everyday French expressions.

In the recently published My French Passport, Level 1 (ISBN/EAN13: 0988819805 / 9780988819801), readers first learn about Marie’s life and family, including what they eat, where they live, how they spend their vacations, and many other aspects of daily French culture. In the forthcoming My French Passport, Level 2, students will celebrate the holidays and other French traditions with Marie and her family, delving deeper into many more distinctive aspects of French culture and society. A third book in the series, Level 3, is planned for a 2014 release date.

Stéphanie Berton, who was born in France and now teaches French in the United States, offers the kinds of insights into the French language and culture that only someone with such a bi-national background can. “As both a student and educator of languages, I have a keen appreciation for how much more a language comes alive and is easier to learn when taught in the context of real-life situations. My sincere hope is that students come away from this series with not only a greater confidence in their fluency, but also in their understanding of how French people today live, act, and talk,” said Berton.

The lessons in the My French Passport series are carefully structured to gradually introduce students to new vocabulary, grammar, and popular idiomatic expressions. Full-color photographs and illustrations throughout the book provide ample visual aids to further understanding of the material. In addition, true or false exercises and quizzes at the end of every lesson help develop comprehension and reinforce recently acquired knowledge.
