New Lanes Open On 15 Freeway To Help Ease Traffic Through Temecula

One opened Tuesday; more are scheduled to open this week.

TEMECULA, CA — Traffic congestion through Temecula has eased in recent months due to several multimillion-dollar construction projects along Interstate 15.

More improvement came Tuesday when a new auxiliary lane opened on southbound I-15, connecting Rancho California Road to Temecula Parkway.

Another southbound auxiliary lane connecting Winchester Road to Rancho California Road is also scheduled to open this week, as is a northbound auxiliary lane between Rancho California Road and Winchester Road.

Auxiliary lanes are designed to improve traffic flow by making merging easier. The construction work also includes wider freeway shoulders and expanded onramps.

The work is part of Caltrans' $33.8 million I-15 Auxiliary Lanes Project that is expected to wrap up by next month.
