One Killed, 2 Hospitalized in Temecula Crash
Officials say one person sustained severe head trauma in the wreck.

TEMECULA, CA – A woman was killed and two others were injured Thursday in a head-on crash in Temecula, officials report.
The collision was reported about 6:10 p.m. on Montelegro Way near Leena Way, according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.
"The first arriving engine company reported a two vehicle traffic collision," Newman said. "One victim perished at the scene."

Sheriff's officials say it appears that a sedan was headed northbound on Montelegro Way when the driver crashed into another sedan, which had been turning southbound onto Montelegro from Leeena.
The woman who was attempting to turn onto Montelegro was killed and her passenger suffered severe head trauma, according to sheriff's Sgt. Robert Christolon. The driver of the other sedan was also hospitalized "with a complaint of pain."

Police shut down the intersection for several hours Thursday night while they investigated the crash.
