CSUSM Open Enrollment Starts Today

The public can enroll in classes at the university's Temecula campus.

Open enrollment for California State University, San Marcos’ summer session starts today.

The university will hold more than 200 classes at its San Marcos and Temecula campuses, said the university’s spokesperson, Sarah Vilarreal.

The classes are open to the public, not just students of the university. “Summer session is about access, ease and affordability. Anyone can take courses, from students to career professionals, without having to pay high tuition or go through any application processes,” said Al Kern, the university’s interim dean of extended learning, in an emailed statement.

The courses aim to help students get their degrees faster, Villarreal said in an email. “By taking summer courses, students can accelerate their progress toward degree completion, high (school) students can get a head start on university coursework and professionals can update or acquire new skills,” she said.

Tuition for summer courses is charged per-unit and will range from $275 to $345 per unit, depending on the student’s level and residency status. For those not enrolled in the university, the cost is $345 per unit, Villarreal said.
