Open Enrollment Starts Today

Intra-district transfer requests will be accepted from today until Dec. 16.

Temecula schools' open enrollment period starts today.

Intra-district transfer requests will be accepted from today until Dec. 16, according to Melanie Norton, a spokesperson for the school district.

The Temecula Valley Unified School District's open enrollment policy "allows parents who live within the district's boundaries to choose their child's school of attendance by submitting an intra-district transfer request," she said.

The available space is the biggest factor in the approval process, though it makes no difference who applies early or late, Norton said.

"All transfers received during the open enrollment period will receive equal consideration, regardless of the date they are received," she said. "A lottery will be held if the number of transfers exceeds the number of spaces available at the school of choice."
