Peace Campaign Underway At Temecula Rose Haven Heritage Garden
The Temecula Valley Rose Society invites residents to join a free picnic lunch and celebrate peace.

TEMECULA, CA — A place of tranquility is being offered up in Temecula.
Local nonprofit the Temecula Valley Rose Society is hosting its first "Peace Campaign" with a Nov. 19 "Picnic for Peace" at TVRS's Rose Haven Heritage Garden. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and residents are invited to bring their own lunch and see six Peace Poles added to the garden. The Peace Poles are translated in 43 languages, with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth.”
Roses will be in fall bloom for photos, and TVRS members will be available to answer gardening questions.

“A Peace Pole is an internationally-recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth," according to www.worldpeace.org/peacepoleproject. "There are estimated over 250,000 Peace Poles in every country in the world dedicated as monuments to peace.”
TVRS members have dedicated over 1,400 volunteer hours to the garden project, and over 35 donors have supported the cause, according to the nonprofit.

“We have been greatly touched by the community support of our Rose Haven Heritage Garden,” said Virginia Boos, president of the Temecula Valley Rose Society. “We strongly believe the garden is a place for residents to stop and smell the roses and to enjoy time in nature. It is only fitting to have the garden also be a place for residents to come celebrate the mission of peace.
“November is a beautiful month for gratitude and peace,” Boos continued. “We are excited about this new addition to the garden and really think it is important for our community to have a place to visit to contemplate peace.”
The Rose Haven Heritage Garden is located at 30592 Jedediah Smith Road, Temecula, CA 92592.
Founded in 1991, the Temecula Valley Rose Society is affiliated with the American Rose Society. As a nonprofit, public benefit corporation, its purpose "is to encourage the appreciation, study, display and cultivation of roses," according to TVRS.
"The Temecula Valley Rose Society endeavors to build community connections through nature, and schedules educational seminars and demonstrations throughout the year for children, families, and rose garden enthusiasts," according to the organization.
