Pechanga Resort Casino Tightens Face Covering Rules
The move follows a study showing that bandanas, neck gaiters, balaclavas and masks with valves do little to protect against COVID-19.
TEMECULA, CA — Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula announced stricter coronavirus safety measures related to face coverings Saturday.
Beginning Tuesday, patrons will no longer be able to satisfy the casino's face covering requirement by wearing bandanas, neck gaiters, balaclavas and face masks with vents or valves, according to a news release.
Pechanga leadership cited a recent study from Duke University showing that these types of face covering offer little protection against the spread of COVID-19.

"The enhancement to the resort/casino's comprehensive safety measures is put in place for the health and safety of guests, team members and the community. The new face mask requirement will be enforced at all times," Pechanga officials said.
The casino reopened on June 1 after being closed for nearly two months in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to casino officials, Pechanga also requires temperature checks for all persons entering the resort, mandates physical distancing between parties and banned indoor smoking.
